The Chemical Biological Centre (KBC)
The Chemical Biological Centre (in Swedish: Kemiskt Biologiskt Centrum, KBC) is one of the main research centres in life sciences in Umeå, Sweden. Around 700 people, from more than 40 different countries, are collaborating in a positive and creative environment in research and teaching. The KBC Research School is organizing a graduate programme for around 250 PhD students.
KBC comprises several research departments and units from three faculties at Umeå University (UmU) and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). From the Faculty of Science and Technology the Departments of Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Plant Physiology, Physics, and Chemistry are involved. From the Faculty of Medicine the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics is participating at KBC.
