The Bert Bolin Centre for Climate Research at Stockholm University conducts fundamental research on key features of the climate system. The Bolin Centre brings together climate research at the departments of Meteorology, Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology, Geological Sciences, and Applied Environmental Science. The research program comprises processes and dynamics governing the natural evolution and variability of our climate as well as anthropogenic influences on the climate system. The position is part of the Bolin Centre’s capacity building within the field of numerical climate modeling.
The Department of Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology is one of the major departments within the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University. The department has 120 employees and approximately 1500 students. The main research disciplines are Geomorphology, Glaciology, Climatology, Quaternary Geology, Hydrology, Remote Sensing, Geographical Data Processing, Ecological Geography and Tropical Geography. Teaching is oriented towards geography, earth sciences, biogeosciences and environmental protection.

Subject description
Paleoclimate modeling of the coupled ocean-land-atmosphere system during the Holocene and Pleistocene, with focus on the atmosphere and model/proxy data comparisons.
Main tasks
Research, teaching and supervision.
Required qualifications
Specific qualifications required to be considered as a candidate for employment as a senior lecturer include a PhD or a corresponding level of scientific competence within the subject area of the position, documented teaching proficiency, and the necessary general qualifications.
General qualifications include the ability to collaborate and the professional skills to perform all the duties of the position.
Teaching and learning theory
Higher education teaching theory, or corresponding knowledge obtained in another manner, is to be given credit. Candidates lacking formal advanced education in teaching theory corresponding to a minimum of 7.5 higher education credits and who are judged not in possession of corresponding teaching skills must pursue such studies during the first two years of employment.
Assessment criteria
In the appointment process special consideration will be given to scientific and teaching proficiency, which will be weighted equally. Assessment of scientific proficiency will primarily focus on merits within the subject area of the position.
When merits are judged similar according to the general criteria, the following will be distinguishing:
• documented experience of applying Atmosphere-Ocean General Circulation Models (AOGCM)

The position is part of the Bert Bolin Centre’s capacity building within the field of numerical climate modeling.The successful candidate is expected to participate in collaborative research within the Centre. The position is tenured and will during the first five years comprise 80% research and 20% teaching.
