The Department of Chemistry, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany, invites applications for a position as
Postdoc
for the build-up of an Independent Young Researcher Group
The application addresses young researchers with excellent
undergraduate and graduate study profiles, who wants to build-up
anindependent young researcher group (e.g. Emmy-Noether Nachwuchsgruppe,
BMBF-Nachwuchsgruppe or similar) at a GermanUniversity. The LOEWE
research cluster „Soft Control – using stimulus-sensitive macromolecules
at interfaces to modulate functions", which was established in 2011 at
the TU Darmstadt wants to support this build-up of an independent
researcher group through a two-year seed-fund, including the candidates
own position, as well as additional research-funds for personal costs
and consumables.
Within this period, it is expected that the candidate will sucessfully
apply for third-party funds for further continuation of funding ofhis /
her own research group.
The research cluster Soft Control of the LOEWE excellence initiative of
the state of Hessen, investigates thin layers of "smart” macromolecules
and biomacromolecules, respectively, which can be reversibly switched
with respect to their molecular structure (conformation, topology,
morphology) by external triggers (light, electric- and magnetic fields),
in order to modulate underlying functions of thin organic films
(catalytic activity, bioactivity, ion channels, etc.) at interfaces. The
research area of the candidate is expected to be within the scientific
fields of Macromolecular Chemistry, and shall focus on the development
of "Functional, stimuliresponsive polymer films”, preferably, if such
films are attached to complex substrates, such as paper. The successful
candidate will be associated to the Laboratory of Macromolecular
Chemistry and Paper Chemistry.
The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of
female faculty members and encourages female candidates to apply. In
case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of
at least 50 or equal will be given preference. Wages and salaries are
according to the collective agreements on salary scales, which apply to
the Technische Universität Darmstadt (TV-TU Darmstadt). Part-time
employment is generally possible.
Applications mentioning the code-No. should be sent to the through
the Dean of the Department of Chemistry to the Coordinator of the Soft
Control Initiative, Prof. Markus Biesalski, Petersenstrasse 22, 64287
D-Darmstadt, Germany, and should include meaningful documents (CV, list
of publications, copies of relevant diplomas and certificates, and a
record of scientific accomplishments).
