KTH in Stockholm is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. No less than one-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. Education and research spans from natural sciences to all branches of engineering and includes architecture, industrial management and urban planning. There are a total of just over 15,000 first and second level students and more than 1,600 doctoral students. KTH has almost 4,300 employees.
The School of Engineering Sciences carries out research at the international front line in a wide area, from research within fundamental disciplines such as physics and mathematics, to engineering mechanics with applications like aeronautics and vehicle engineering. We offer the engineering programs Engineering Physics and Vehicle Engineering, as well as programs for Engineer and Education, Open Entrance and a number of master programs.
The Division of Mathematical Statistics within the Department of Mathematics offers a position as PhD student, with research in theoretical or computational statistics, or statistical modelling.
The division has wide-ranging activities in probability, statistics and financial mathematics, spanning both undergraduate and graduate education, and research. Research areas covered include inference in stochastic processes, Monte Carlo simulation-based statistical methods, Bayesian models and methods, large deviations, stochastic control, pricing of financial derivatives, and analysis of risk.
