At the Institute of Materials Science, Faculty of Materials Science and Technology, a professor position (W2) in the field of
Applied Materials Science
is to be filled. The expected beginning of the employment is October 1, 2012.
The professor (m/f) will be responsible for classes in the fields of
- Fundamentals of Materials Science,
- Physical Metallurgy and
- Thermodynamics of Materials
In the research, the professor (m/f) is expected to investigate and develop metastable compounds, nanostructured materials and novel composites. The research field to be covered by the professorship should complement the ex-pertises of other research groups at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, which are working on the design of materials for extreme conditions.
TU Bergakademie Freiberg is looking for a scientist with a high international reputation in the above fields of research. A crucial qualification criterion of the applicants is their capability to join interdisciplinary research groups. Within TU Bergakademie Freiberg, the closest cooperation is expected to be continued with the Institutes of the Faculty of Mate-rials Science and Technology, with the Institutes of the Faculty of Chemistry and Physics and within the collaborative research projects (SFB 799 “TRIP-Matrix-Composites” and SFB 920 “Multi-Functional Filters for Metal Melt Filtration – a Contribution towards Zero Defect Materials”).
The applicant must be able to give lectures and seminars both in German and in English. Furthermore, the applicants must satisfy the general prerequisites for an appointment to professor according to § 58 of the Saxony University Law from December 10th, 2008 (“Sächsisches Gesetz- und Verordnungsblatt” Number 19, December 24th, 2008).
