Tenure Track position for women in the field of strongly-correlated quantum many body systems
Faculty of Technical Mathematics and Technical Physics
Graz University of Technology, Austria
A Tenure Track University assistant position is available at the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Physics at TU Graz in the field of strongly correlated quantum many body systems.
The full-time position, available as of October 2012, is initially limited to 6 years with the possibility of a "qualification agreement". After a successful evaluation the promotion to a permanent associate professorship is possible.
The TU Graz is committed to increase the proportion of female scientific staff (professors).
Candidates must have a Doctoral degree in the field of Theoretical Physics.
Expected qualifications: The applicant should have an internationally recognized experience in the research field "Physics of strongly correlated quantum many-body systems". In particular, she should have extended knowledge in some of the related methods and materials: Dynamical Mean-Field Theory, Quantum Monte Carlo, Exact Diagonalisation, Variational Cluster Approach, Bosonisation, Non-Fermi Liquid Physics, Ultracold Atoms, Renormalisation Group, Transport in Strongly Correlated Systems, and High-Temperature/Pnictide Superconductors. In addition, she is expected to have experience in carrying out and supervise research projects in this field, a good record of scientific publications, teaching experience, as well as team- and communication skills.
The many-body group at ITPCP consists of 5 permanent faculty members, several PhD students and postdocs. Research is focused on magnetic materials, high-temperature superconductivity, charge transport in solids, interacting boson systems, coupled-cavity systems and polaritons, nonequilibrium and time-dependent phenomena.
