PhD Position in Neuroscience
Project Information
The project, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), sets out to examine the role of chromatin-remodeling factor in higher brain functions by using conditional knockout models. By employing large-scale bioinformatics approaches (transcriptome profiling, ChIP-seq), electrophysiological, cell biological and histological techniques, as well as a battery of behavioral assays the project aims at comprehensive characterization of its function at molecular, cellular, synaptic and animal behavioral level.
Requirements
We invite highly motivated students with a Master certificate in biology, biochemistry, medicine or any related discipline to apply for this position. A strong background in genetics, cellular and molecular biology is required. An interest and/or basic knowledge in neuroscience will be an advantage. We are looking for independent, responsible and team-oriented candidates with excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
Appointment
The appointment will be for three years. The position is available from November 2012. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the PhD program in Neuroscience at Innsbruck Medical University (www.i-med.ac.at/phd/neuroscience) and will also have the opportunity to be embedded in the SPIN doctoral school (www.neurospin.at).
Salary
The gross monthly salary amounts to € 1, 933.30 (according to the FWF guidelines) and includes health insurance and social benefits.
