REANNOUNCEMENT - Call for The Danfoss Chair of Global Marketing
 
With a view to obtaining more qualified applicants for the position as Professor with special responsibilities, the position is now reannounced.
 
Applications already received will also be considered, unless applicants approach the University in writing to withdraw their application.
 
At the Department of Border Region Studies (IFG), University of Southern Denmark, Campus Sønderborg, applications are invited for a position as Danfoss Professor with special responsibilities in Global Marketing. Danfoss, the sponsor of this chair, is a Danish world leading company within energy-efficient and climate friendly solutions. Danfoss has 79 factories in 22 countries and 24000 employees globally.
 
The position has a time limit of 5 years. It is expected that the position will be continued following the conclusion of the 5 years’ employment period.
 
Expected start is March 2012 or soon thereafter.
 
The Danfoss Professor in Global Marketing will have the following tasks at Department of Border Region Studies:
 
•      Develop and lead the Global Marketing research field at the department over the next five years
•      Create a strong and internationally recognised research environment within global marketing
•      Participate in the further development of the Master degree (M.Sc.) programme in Business Relationship Management
•      Responsible for the organisation of events spanning from international high profiled conferences to company workshop within the global marketing field
•      The successful applicant will be responsible for the teaching and supervision of MSc students in Economics and PhD students
•      Fulfill other tasks requested by the Department
 
Examples of challenging research topics which the Danfoss professor will face are:
 
•      Global marketing in a value chain perspective
•      Value proposition and global product development
•      Industrial marketing issues
•      B2B marketing
 
The successful candidate should:
 
•      Possess internationally recognised research competences within Global Marketing
•      Have experience in cooperating with multinational companies on Global Marketing
•      Understand companies’ challenges in Global Marketing 
•      Present a work plan containing a) a research agenda and b) a plan for developing the research environment within the field of global marketing
•      Have a strong toning of research and education within the field of global marketing
•      Have experience in disseminating research in Global Marketing to a larger and broader audience
 
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be assessed according to their record of achievement in research at an international level and they must hold a PhD degree. The applicants must have a documented strong academic record with research and teaching in addition to supervision of PhD students. Requested is also a high level of original scientific production of international standard. Furthermore, applicants should have experience with research management.
 
The department
The IFG has three research priority groups: 1) Business Administration: Business-to-Business Relations & Supply Chain Management, 2) Regional Economics and the Spatial Dimension of Economics, and 3) People and Society in Border Regions. Research results disseminate mainly in English, Danish and German in international peer reviewed journals, monographs, and to the general public in the regional and national printed and digital media.
 
The research in the Business Administration Research Group has natural interfaces with the other regional- and macroeconomic research areas at IFG.
 
Teaching and Educations
The department offers teaching at all levels within Business Administration & Business Relationship Management and in European Studies. From Fall 2012 a new master in Regional Economics and Development will be launched.
The department is also responsible for teaching the business economics components to the BSc & the MSc Negot in Chinese in Sønderborg. In addition the department is engaged in research and teaching collaboration with the Mads Clausen Department (Technical Faculty, Sønderborg, SDU) and with the neighbouring University of Flensburg, Germany.
 
App. 800 students from 50 countries worldwide are enrolled at the department. Teaching language is English only.
 
The Department is situated in the beautiful premises at Alsion on the shore facing Sønderborg and the island of Als. From here there is only 30 minutes by car to the Danish-German border, only 35 minutes by plane to Copenhagen. Hamburg, Kiel, Aarhus and Odense can be reached by car within 1½ - 2 hours. Sønderborg has a rich cultural life and is surrounded by pretty landscapes inviting for recreational activities. The SDU-Campus Sønderborg houses Social Sciences, Humanities as well as Technical Sciences.
 
The Department of Border Region Studies (IFG) is rooted in the unique history of the Southern Danish border region. At the same time, the department has a close relationship with the business community and the cultural institutions of the region. The department is well connected in international research network.

Application
Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and in accordance with the job description for instructors and academic personnel at institutions of higher education. An Attractive salary level is negotiable.
 
Applicants should submit their application in hard copy before the closing date together with 1) a detailed CV, 2) teaching portfolio, 3) publication list indicating which publications are most relevant for the position, 4) the most relevant publications (up to 10 publications to be enclosed), 5) a covering letter indicating clearly how the candidate meets the selection criteria for the post outlined above, 6) academic diplomas, 7) a work plan including a research agenda, and 8) a list of all enclosures. All enclosures must be numbered, signed and, where necessary, assembled in sets. Application and enclosures must be submitted in 4 copies, included publications in 3 copies.

Applications will be assessed by a committee. The committee may request additional information, and, if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.
